Vows
Although Vows are usually discussed with each couple and
customized to suit each individual wedding, here are several
basic sets of vows that you can begin the discussion with.
(A) Repeat after me:
In
the presence of these our family and friends, I
__his name__/__her name__ do take you __her name__/__his
name__ to be my wife.
To join my life with
yours, To share with you all that is to be. I will laugh
with you in times of joy, And grieve with you in times
of sorrow. I will grow with you in love!
I will
honor you and be faithful to you all the days of my
life. As God is my witness, this is my sacred promise! |
(B) Repeat after me:
I,
_______/________ do take you, _______/______, to be my
lawfully wedded wife/husband, after God’s ordinance in
the holy estate of matrimony.
To have and to
hold from this day forward, For better for worse, For
richer for poorer, In sickness and in health, I will
love you and cherish you, Until separated by death, As
God is my witness, I give you this promise. |
(C) Repeat after me:
Groom: I ________ take you ________ to be my wife.
I promise to be faithful, placing you as a seal over my
heart and finding satisfaction and happiness only in
you. I will strive to understand you and give you honor
as we live together in harmony, compassion and love. I
will consider our love above any adversity, knowing that
our commitment for one another will allow our happiness
to win out. My love is all yours as long as we both
shall live.
Repeat after me:
Bride:
The desire in my heart is to take you ________ as my
husband. To love you for who you are and who you will
become. I give you all that I am and all that I
possess. As we walk together, I believe if we are rich
or poor, sick or healthy, in adversity or joy, we will
stand together as one. I promise you _______ to continue
to develop the beauty of gentleness, to encourage you
and always seek to see the goodness in you. I promise
to keep nothing from you and to trust what you tell me.
Through our life together I promise to be your friend
and lover alone. |
